Alexa skill

“Alexa,
play my station.”

Your listeners shouldn’t have to hunt for an app. We build and publish a custom Alexa skill in your station’s name, so anyone with an Echo can call you up by voice — hands free, in any room of the house.

Why voice

Your station,
one sentence away.

A smart speaker is already sitting in the kitchen, the bedroom and the car. A skill puts you inside it — no download, no searching, no typing.

Nothing to install

Listeners enable your skill once, then simply ask for you by name. No app store, no account, no setup to talk them through.

Hands free listening

Cooking, driving, getting the kids ready, working out — the moments people most want radio are exactly the moments they can’t hold a phone.

On air around the clock

The skill points straight at your live stream, so you are available the moment anyone asks — day or night, anywhere Alexa works.

Your name on it

Your own invocation name, your welcome message, your logo and artwork on the skill card. It is your brand in the listing, not ours.

Keep your current host

You don’t have to move anything. The skill points at the stream you already run, wherever it happens to be hosted.

We keep it on air

If your stream address ever changes, send us a ticket and we update the skill. Your listeners carry on saying exactly the same thing.

See it in action

Three things
your listeners can say.

1

“Alexa, enable Your Station”

A one-time setup, said out loud or tapped in the Alexa app. After this they never have to do it again.

2

“Alexa, play Your Station”

Your live stream starts. Volume, pause and stop all work the way listeners already expect.

3

“Alexa, what’s playing?”

Alexa reads back the track that is on air right now, straight from your stream’s now-playing data.

Questions

Before you
order.

What exactly is an invocation name?

It is the phrase a listener says to reach you — the “Your Station” in “Alexa, play Your Station”. Amazon has rules about what these can be, so we help you choose one that is close to your station name and will pass review.

Do I need an Amazon developer account?

No. We prepare the skill and take it through publishing for you. You just supply your stream, your artwork and the name you want listeners to say.

How long does it take to go live?

We build quickly, but every skill is reviewed by Amazon before it appears in the store, and that part is on their timetable rather than ours. It is usually a matter of days. We handle the back and forth if they ask for changes.

Which devices will it work on?

Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Fire TV and other Alexa-enabled devices — anywhere the Alexa assistant runs and can play audio.

Do I have to host my radio with Ifastek?

No. The skill points at your stream wherever it lives. If you do host with us it is simply one less thing to wire up, and we already have your stream details.

What if my stream address changes later?

Send us a ticket and we will update the skill. Your listeners carry on saying the same thing — nothing changes on their side.

Let them just
ask for you.

We will have your station answering to its own name on Alexa.
